At Mariposa Aesthetics & Laser Center in Oklahoma City, OK, we understand how frustrating it is to eat clean most of the time, exercise regularly, and still struggle with stubborn pockets of excess fat. That is why we are proud to offer several body sculpting treatments, including Zerona, that are approved by the FDA for the improvement of problematic contours. Today, we’re taking a closer look at this treatment, including how many sessions are required to see results.
How Many Zerona Treatments Are Needed to See Results?
You can start seeing results with as little as one treatment session, but you may not be able to see your desired results until six treatment sessions have been completed. There are several factors affecting how many sessions you will require to achieve your ideal results, including your current body fat distribution and goals. We will give you a clearer picture of what results you can realistically expect during your initial consultation.
How Much of an Improvement Can I Expect?
According to the results of clinical trials, clients who receive six treatment sessions can expect to lose 3.72 inches on average. If you are 20 to 29 pounds away from your goal weight, you may be able to lose over 3.72 inches from your targeted contours.
How Long Will My Treatment Session Take?
Typically, treatment sessions take around 40 minutes to complete. First, the laser will be positioned on the front of the targeted area. Over the course of 20 minutes, the fat cells in the area will absorb the energy emitted by the 635 nm laser.
The fat inside the adipose tissue cells are liquefied and will vacate the fat cells through temporary pores formed in the membrane of the tissue. Then, the laser will be repositioned to the back of your targeted area for an additional 20 minutes. After that, we will review your aftercare guidelines with you, and you are free to resume your day.
What Areas Can Be Treated With Laser Therapy?
You can target pretty much any area of concern with this treatment. It is most commonly used to remove excess fat from the waist, hips, thighs, and arms. However, you can also target other areas with this treatment, including the neck, chin, back, and buttocks. During your initial consultation, let us know which areas of concern you have. We will evaluate them and advise you on whether this treatment will be effective based on your current fat distribution.
What Should I Expect After My Treatment Session?
You should not expect to feel any form of discomfort once your treatment session is complete. Additionally, you should not expect a lengthy recovery period. There is no downtime required after this treatment, and there are only a few post-treatment guidelines you will need to abide by.
What Rules Will I Need to Follow Once My Session Is Complete?
It is of the utmost importance that you drink eight to 10 glasses of hydrating fluids, like water and decaffeinated tea, daily. If you feel like you’re drinking enough hydrating fluids, but your urine is dark, you may need to increase your sodium consumption a bit, decrease your potassium consumption, or eat more foods with high water contents. Adequate hydration is critical if you want to see your desired results as quickly as possible.
It is also important that you support your lymphatic system by supporting the efficiency of your cardiovascular system; you should walk for at least 30 minutes daily until your final results are apparent. Moreover, it is extremely important that you avoid the consumption of alcohol and caffeine. Furthermore, it is very important that you eat nutritiously while your body is working hard to provide you with your desired results.
Will I Need to Worry About Loose Skin?
No, you will not need to worry about loose skin once your course of treatments is complete. One of the benefits of using laser energy to improve your contours is that it induces extra localized collagen production. Collagen is an essential protein that serves several functions, including keeping your skin tight.
It takes time for your skin to produce extra collagen and firm up in response to the extra supportive substances. It also takes time for your lymphatic system to process and eliminate the fat liquefied during treatment. Therefore, you will be able to enjoy your skin toning up at the same time as your treated contours are slimming down.
How Long Can I Expect My Ideal Results to Last?
The final results of this treatment can last a lifetime if you maintain a calorie neutral diet after your course of treatments is complete. If you want to lose weight after your treatment, it is a good idea to lose weight slowly. If you lose too much weight too quickly, you may have to contend with loose skin. If you eat at a caloric surplus after treatment, you may notice one or more of your treated areas becoming larger.
Am I a Good Candidate for This Treatment?
Most people with stubborn pockets of excess fat will qualify for this treatment, but there are exceptions to this general rule. For instance, you should not consider this treatment if you are pregnant or suspect you are pregnant. If you are pregnant and worried about some of your contours, we welcome you to schedule a consultation six weeks after your delivery if you’re not nursing. Additionally, this treatment may not be a great fit for you if you have a pacemaker.
What If This Treatment Isn’t Right for Me?
Don’t worry if Zerona isn’t the perfect body contouring fit for you. We offer many other body sculpting treatments, including CoolSculpting. This fat removal treatment usually provides ideal results in one to six sessions per area, but it works by freezing fat cells to death instead of melting stored fat. KYBELLA is another popular fat removal treatment that we offer, and it works by destroying fat cells with injected deoxycholic acid.
Am I a Good CoolSculpting Candidate?
Most people who have a normal or overweight BMI will qualify for CoolSculpting. If you have an underweight or obese BMI, you should not expect to qualify for this treatment because it may not provide you with ideal results. If you are within 30 pounds of your goal weight, there is a great chance that you will be able to enjoy optimal fat removal results. However, there are contraindications you should be aware of.
You will not be considered a good candidate for this treatment if you suffer from a medical condition that makes you extremely sensitive to cold temperatures, like Raynaud’s disease. You also should not consider this treatment if you suffer from cryoglobulinemia, cold agglutinin disease, or paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria. We will review all of the contraindications of this treatment with you during your initial consultation.
Am I a Good KYBELLA Candidate?
You can generally expect to be considered a good KYBELLA candidate if you are concerned about submental fullness. Whether you are concerned about your chin, your neck, or your entire submental region, there is a very good chance that this injectable fat removal treatment can provide you with your desired results. It is even effective when the submental fullness is caused by genetics, poor posture, or old age rather than excess fat.
However, there are contraindications. For instance, you should not consider this treatment if you are not yet 18 years of age. Additionally, this treatment is not appropriate for women who are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. During your initial body contouring consultation, we will verify that this treatment will be safe for you by discussing your health and lifestyle thoroughly. You may need to stop taking certain drugs temporarily to qualify.
The Bottom Line
The bottom line is that one Zerona treatment is enough to start seeing results, but six sessions are usually necessary to see ideal results. Fortunately, these sessions can be scheduled close together, so your course of treatments should be completed in just two weeks. If you are struggling with excess fat pockets, contact us now at Mariposa Aesthetics & Laser Center in Oklahoma City, OK to schedule your initial consultation and find out if you’re a candidate.
