There are many different ways to get rid of unwanted hair. Some people wax, others shave. There’s plucking, trimming, and many other methods. Laser hair removal is one of the newest ways to get rid of that unwanted hair. The CoolGlide® laser hair removal system is safe, reliable, and effective at reducing unwanted hair on all skin types.
How does the CoolGlide® Laser Hair Removal Treatment work?
The CoolGlide® laser is a non-invasive light therapy system that was designed to get rid of unwanted hair in a number of different areas of the body. It pulses intense and concentrated light through small hand pieces and gently applies them to the treatment area. The light energy goes through the skin and into the hair follicle. It damages the hair root, but protects the pores and the skin’s structure. Some of the hair will wipe off immediately after treatment while the rest will shed over the following 2-3 weeks. The hair roots are destroyed, and you will not have regrowth for several months.
What body areas can be treated?
Any area of the body can receive this treatment. Women often utilize the treatment on their upper lips, chins, arms, legs, underarms, and bikini line. Men often get treatments on their backs, shoulders, and beard regions.
Are there any risks of CoolGlide® Treatments?
There are a few short-term side effects associated with treatment, but they are mild. Some patients will have slight red skin areas or a little swelling that only lasts for about a day or two. There are seldom any larger problems. Unlike with other treatments, laser hair removal does not give you the risk of having your hair grow back thicker or darker. Hair regrowth will actually take much longer and when it does come back, it should be finer, lighter, and less dense.
Does it hurt?
The CoolGlide® treatments use light, and you will feel a slight snapping sensation like someone snapped a rubber band against your skin. However, you will not bleed or have any open wounds. The first treatment is likely the most uncomfortable because there is more work for the laser to do. Some areas of the body are also more uncomfortable than others. The upper lip and bikini line, for example, are more sensitive than the legs. Some doctors advise taking a couple of pain relievers an hour before the treatment to combat the discomfort.
What happens after the treatment?
The redness you might experience will likely fade or go away completely by the time you make it home. Your skin might feel more try for a few days so you will want to use more moisturizer on the treated area. Any hair that did not wipe away during the procedure will fall off in the days following the treatment.
