Your hands, like your neck and face, thin and wrinkle as you age. At Mariposa Aesthetics & Laser Center in Oklahoma City, OK, we offer Radiesse to help our clients restore youthful volume to their hands so they no longer have to feel self-conscious about them.
Radiesse: The Best Dermal Filler for Hands
You may be familiar with other dermal fillers, like Juvederm and Restylane, that smooth away facial wrinkles and lines. However, you may not be aware that dermal fillers aren’t limited to eliminating facial wrinkles and folds.
Some, like Radiesse for hands, are designed to restore volume and youth to the hands. In fact, there is no better filler for restoring volume lost in the hands because the results look natural and last for many months.
How Does This Treatment Work?
This treatment reverses several signs of aging affecting your hands.
This Treatment Restores Volume
As you age, your skin produces less collagen, a volumizing, supporting protein. Unfortunately, there is less collagen in your hands because your hand skin is thinner than other skin, such as your cheek skin. Thus, the hands are one of the first places to show the signs of aging. This dermal filler helps your hands to look plumper and more attractive by restoring volume lost due to a reduction in collagen production.
This Treatment Minimizes Visible Veins
One of the main reasons people grow self-conscious about their hands as they age is the localized volume lost leads to more visible tendons and veins. You don’t have to worry about large, very visible blue veins on the back of your hands.
As this treatment restores volume to the back of your hands, any visible veins and tendons will, over time, become less noticeable. Moreover, this filler is suspended in a gel that is opaque in color. This opaque gel assimilates into the foundational skin tissues. This may provide an immediate decrease in the appearance of tendons and blue veins.
What Is This Filler Made With?
If you’ve ever received dermal filler treatments to fill in facial lines and wrinkles, you know about hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is extremely effective at volumizing highly dynamic parts of your face, like your lips, mouth, and cheeks. However, HA is not the most effective solution if you want to restore hand volume.
This Is a Unique Filler
Rather than using HA to volumize the back of your hands, we use a different chemical compound that works better and lasts longer. Radiesse for hands consists of tiny calcium hydroxylapatite spheres. When suspended in the special opaque gel, the filler becomes thick and firm.
This Injectable Improves the Health of Your Hands
Upon injection, the microspheres suspended in the gel are metabolized by the skin tissue in your hands. This is a gradual process that results in extra collagen growth. Collagen is a mesh-like protein that provides crucial support deep within the foundational layer of your skin. It is one of the most important substances in your body and when there is enough collagen, your skin is taut, firm, and supple. As your skin responds to the microspheres and produces extra collagen, your hands will be healthier and look younger and fuller.
Am I a Good Candidate for This Treatment?
Radiesse for hands uses biocompatible ingredients. Therefore, you don’t need to worry about any allergic reaction. There is a very good possibility you will be considered a good candidate for this anti-aging injectable. Nonetheless, we must assess your hands and talk to you about a few things before we can determine if this treatment will be appropriate for you.
We Will Discuss Your Hands
During your initial consultation, we will discuss any medical concerns you have about your hands, such as keloid scars, eczema, or chronic plaque psoriasis. You should also mention any hand injuries. Furthermore, we need to know if you have ever had dermal filler injections to restore volume to your hands.
We Will Discuss Your Medical History
Although it is important for us to understand all of the medical concerns you have related to your hands, we also need to know about other medical conditions you may have. For example, we need to know if you have a history of herpes. Additionally, you need to let us know if you have been diagnosed with a blood clotting disorder.
What Can I Expect During Treatment?
Your Hands Will Be Prepared
If your initial consultation reveals you are a good candidate for this treatment, we will cleanse your hands gently.
We Will Administer the Dermal Filler
After we sanitize your hands, we will administer the dermal filler into the subdermal layer of your skin. The volume of the filler we administer will depend on how severe your volume loss is.
Your Session Will Be Completed
Once the filler has been administered into the subdermal layer of your skin, your hands will be massaged gently. It is important for the treatment area to be massaged very gently to ensure the injectable is distributed throughout your hands uniformly. After we massage your hands, you are free to drive yourself back to work, go home or run some errands. The entire injection process usually takes around 20 minutes to complete.
Even though you don’t need to take off time from work, there are a few alterations you may need to make to your plans. For example, you should wait 24 hours to engage in strenuous activities. Furthermore, you should make an effort to minimize UV ray exposure.
How Soon Will I See the Results of My Treatment?
You will see the results of your injections very quickly. You will notice an immediate increase in the volume in the back of your hands. However, the results you see immediately after your session is over are not your final results. Remember, the microspheres stimulate collagen production. Over the course of several weeks, there will be extra collagen in your skin and your results will continue to improve.
How Durable Is This Treatment?
This dermal filler provides extremely durable results. Since natural collagen production is stimulated, you can easily expect the results of this treatment to last a full year. In fact, it is not uncommon for people to be completely satisfied with the results of this filler for 18 months. However, there is no way to stop the aging process.
Eventually, you will notice the veins and tendons in the back of your hands are a little more visible. You will also notice fine lines and mild wrinkles after a while.
Does My Doctor Need to Know About These Injections?
You should tell your doctor if you get Radiesse for hands injections to improve the health and appearance of your hands. The calcium in the formula can affect the outcome of particular medical examinations.
For example, the microspheres can be seen on x-rays and CT scans. However, you will still be able to take these diagnostic tests and receive accurate results as long as your physician is aware that you received the anti-aging injections.
Can This Filler Help Me With Any Other Cosmetic Concerns?
Yes, this filler can help you address other cosmetic concerns. For instance, you can use this injectable to erase volume loss-related folds that develop around your nose.
What Else Can I Do to Improve My Aesthetic?
We offer a number of dermal fillers to help our clients improve every aspect of their appearance, including the cheeks and nose.
Fillers to Improve the Appearance of Your Nose
Radiesse is an excellent solution if you are concerned about nasolabial folds. However, it is not the only non-invasive treatment option we have to improve the features of your olfactory organ. For example, we offer Juvederm to hide bumps on your nose without undergoing an invasive nose job. Dermal fillers can also be used to lift sagging skin affordably and conveniently.
Using dermal fillers to improve the appearance of your nose takes just a couple of minutes. Furthermore, you can enjoy the results of the treatment immediately rather than waiting many months for the final results to be revealed. Note, you don’t have to worry about scarring or any changes to your ability to breathe if you use a dermal filler to improve the appearance of your nose.
Belotero Balance to Improve the Appearance of Your Nose
We usually use the original Juvederm formula to improve the appearance of the nose. However, that is not the only FDA-approved dermal filler we are proud to offer. We also offer Belotero Balance, another hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler that, when injected into the foundational layer of your skin, treats moderate-to-severe nasolabial folds. The results of this treatment last around six months but, with care, can last a lot longer.
Fillers to Improve the Areas Around Your Eyes
Belotero Balance does more than just treat moderate-to-severe nasolabial folds. It can also be used to eliminate bags of your eyes and erase crow’s feet extending out from the corners of your eyes.
Fillers to Improve the Appearance of Your Lips
Dermal fillers may also be used to augment your lips and correct asymmetry. While we use the original Juvederm filler to treat nasolabial folds and improve the appearance of the nose, we use Juvederm Volbella to address thin and asymmetrical lips. What’s great about Juvederm Volbella is it doesn’t just provide dramatic, durable, natural-looking results. It can also be used to erase moderate-to-severe lines around the corners of the mouth.
Fillers to Improve the Appearance of Your Cheeks
We are also proud to offer Juvederm Voluma XC. The “XC” at the end of the product name indicates the presence of lidocaine, a local anesthetic that starts working almost immediately and lasts for roughly half of an hour. Juvederm Voluma XC is FDA-approved to augment the cheeks and lift sagging skin for 24 months in individuals who are at least 21 years of age.
What’s exciting about Juvederm Voluma XC is when the appropriate dosage is injected into strategic locations by a cosmetic expert, it’s not just your cheek skin is lifted. You will notice wrinkle reduction and tighter, more lifted skin below your cheeks, as well.
