Treating Broken Capillaries with LimeLight IPL Therapy

limelight-ipl-therapy

If you have broken capillaries on your face that you are interested in getting rid of, you might want to ask your healthcare professional about LimeLight IPL therapy. During an intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment, concentrated beams of light are delivered to the targeted treatment area in quick pulses. This treatment gives the skin a smoother, more youthful look by improving the appearance of age spots, sun spots, and broken capillaries in the face.

Also referred to as spider veins, broken capillaries form when small blood vessels near the surface of the skin become enlarged. These enlarged blood vessels are highly noticeable, appearing in web-like clusters. They are similar to varicose veins except for their size. Varicose veins are also often accompanied by pain and other discomforts and can put a person at risk for serious health problems. Fortunately, spider veins seldom cause any health problems other than issues related to appearance. However, this is enough to cause self-esteem problems for many individuals who have the condition. As a result, many individuals with broken capillaries have them removed with aesthetic treatments.

LimeLight intense pulsed light therapy can be done in a medical professional’s office with only minimal downtime. During the treatment, a slight stinging sensation may be felt. These treatments work by focusing light on the targeted blood vessels. This is done without affecting surrounding tissue. As this light is delivered into the skin, the light beams cause the treated veins to heat up. This causes them to collapse. What remains of them is absorbed by the body over the next few weeks until the spider veins are no longer visible.

Sometimes, only one treatment is sufficient to remove broken capillaries. However, depending on the severity of a patient’s condition, additional treatments may be needed to produce satisfactory results.

Side effects experienced by some people include temporary swelling, bruising, and redness. If these conditions occur, they usually subside within a few hours. Many people may not experience any side effects at all.

If you or a loved one suffer from spider veins or broken facial capillaries and have wondered if there is an effective way to remove them, you may want to consider undergoing a LimeLight IPL treatment. Mariposa Aesthetics & Laser Center is proud to provide this treatment to patients in the Oklahoma City area.
