BOTOX® shots are designed to relax these muscles and allow the skin to move back to its original position. Unlike fillers that plump and expand the outer layers of skin, BOTOX® is injected underneath the skin.
While these injections are used for “frown lines” on the forehead, they can also be used for wrinkles around the eyes, nose, mouth, and chin.
Your Screening
One of the biggest advantages of BOTOX® is the fact that few preparations are needed beyond the initial consultation. During your consultation, you will speak with the practitioner about some of the cosmetic issues that you would like to address and give a quick overview of your medical history. If the practitioner believes that you would be a good candidate for these injections, then a procedure will be scheduled.
On the day of your BOTOX® appointment, no makeup should be worn around the injection sites, or it will have to be removed upon arrival. After the injections are carried out, you can immediately return to your regular daily activities. Outside of some minor swelling and redness, most patients have absolutely no negative side effects. The full effects of the shots are typically seen within the first five to seven days.
