You may be experiencing frustration if you have worked hard to diet and exercise, but you just cannot seem to lose that last bit of lingering body fat in your problem areas. Fortunately, there is a non-invasive treatment option to help reduce your body fat in less than an hour without the pain and healing time of traditional surgical methods. It is called CoolSculpting.
About CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting works with cryolipolysis, which is a technique that destroys fat cells with extremely cold temperatures. The surrounding tissue is not damaged at all in the process while the destroyed cells will be metabolized naturally by your body over the next few weeks. Following this healing process, you will see the typical results of a 25% – 35% reduction in fatty tissue in the treated area. CoolSculpting can also treat cellulite on almost any area of the body.
CoolSculpting Candidates
If you are in overall good health and are dealing with excess body fat that is resistant to diet and exercise, you are likely a good candidate for CoolSculpting. Your doctor will perform a physical exam and discuss your goals. During this consultation, you will receive an overview of what to expect from the procedure based on your personal situation. If it is determined that you are a suitable candidate, a treatment plan will be created for you.
About the Procedure
Using one of three different sized applicators based on the area to be treated, the skill will be lightly suctioned. No anesthesia is needed, as this will be painless. Next, CoolSculpting paddles located on each side of the treatment area will begin to chill. Each area to be treated takes approximately an hour to complete. You will likely feel a slight tugging sensation for a few minutes until the area begins to numb. You will be able to relax, read a book, watch television or use your phone while waiting for the procedure to finish.
Recovery and Results
After the procedure is completed, you can immediately return to your regular activities. It is possible that you will experience some slight bruising, redness or swelling. However, this will be temporary and begin to diminish over the next few weeks. Itching and tenderness may be noticed, but these should be mild and not last long.
You will need to be patience before seeing results, as it could take between two to four months for your body to metabolize the fat cells that were destroyed. Once complete results are visible, it is possible to return for another treatment. You can expect your results to be permanent, though it is important to maintain a healthy diet and moderate exercise routine in order to prevent fatty deposits from developing.
