If you are looking for non-surgical ways to reduce the effects of aging and change the contours of your face, dermal fillers might be the answer for you. Dermal fillers are injectible treatments that are safe, long-lasting and easy to get right in our office.
Our staff of professionals can assist with a variety of concerns, from lines and wrinkles to loss of fullness and even increasing volume, such as in the lips. Here at Mariposa Med Spa – with offices in Oklahoma City and Edmond – we offer a number of different dermal fillers. Which one is right for you? Only a discussion with one of our professionals can help you determine that for sure, but doing your research beforehand is always a good idea.
Read on to learn more about the dermals fillers we use here at Mariposa MedSpa, so you have an idea of which you might be interested in when you come to our office.
Bellafill®: This is a non-resorbable dermal filler most often used to provide long-lasting wrinkle correction. “Non-resorbable” means that your body won’t absorb this filler, which can make some fillers lose their effectiveness over time. Because of this, Bellafill effects last longer: up to seven years, in fact. It is most commonly recommended to correct nasolabial folds — those “frown lines” around the mouth and lips that can cause a jowly appearance on the face.
Belotero Balance®: This is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has been shown to be more versatile than similar products. This versatility means that it can be used to treat deep wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds, as well as more delicate forms of correction, such as adding volume to the lips. Belotero has been shown to last up to six months before a repeated injection is needed.
Juvederm®: This is a very popular choice among dermal fillers. It has been approved for cosmetic use as a facial filler since 2006, and patients love that it is one of the most versatile choice out there. Juvederm can treat a wide variety of cosmetic concerns, such as smoothing out facial wrinkles, plumping lips, and treating acne scars and blemishes. It can even be used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles in your hands! The effects generally last 8 to 12 months before repeated treatments are needed.
Juvederm Voluma™ XC: This dermal filler is slightly different from regular Juvederm in that it has been FDA approved specifically to add volume to the cheek area. Many people complain of the look of “sunken” cheeks as they age, and this can give you an instant and subtle lift. This creates the appearance of improved contour and a more youthful profile, with results lasting up to two years. This is currently the only filler approved for this use, so if sunken cheeks are your concern, this may well be the solution.
Radiesse®: This is considered the heaviest of the facial fillers. It’s also one of the safest when it comes to allergens because it is a mineral and entirely biosynthetic – meaning no animals or animal products are used to create it. Radiesse produces very natural-looking results, but its heaviness means it can’t be used for everything. The most common use for Radiesse is filling deeper wrinkles – such as “marionette lines” or nasolabial folds – and also to make cheeks and other facial contours appear fuller and more round. It is a long-lasting option, with results appearing immediately and lasting a year or even longer — possibly up to 18 months.
